Mumps Case Reported In Winfield, Mo School District

WINFIELD, MO (KTVI) – The Winfield School District has sent a letter home to the parents of children informing them of a case of the mumps in the district.

Mumps is a viral illness that is transmitted from person to person via contact with saliva or mucus of a person coughing, sneezing or direct contact. Symptoms can appear in 12 to25 days can include fever, headaches, and swelling of glands.

The disease can be preventable with vaccinations. The district says its working closely with the Lincoln County Health Department.
