Winter Storm Warning Issued – Heavy Snow Possible

ST. LOUIS, MO — The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a ‘Winter Storm Warning’ including St. Charles County from Wednesday night into Thursday. The heaviest snow will be from the St. Louis metro to the east. Snow will develop and build into the area from the southeast to the northwest, toward the St. Louis metro on Wednesday night and continue through noon Thursday.

The National Weather Service upgraded its Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Storm Warning for St. Charles County, St. Louis City, St. Louis County, Jersey County IL, Calhoun County IL, and Greene County IL.

Snow will begin after the Wednesday rush hour, with heavy snow for the Thursday morning rush before diminishing from west to east through the afternoon. Remember: do not just focus on the 8″ max listed. It is a range: 4″ to 8″. Some will get 4″ and others may push to near 8″.

To the west, the gradient between no snow and 4″ or more could stretch over only a few miles.

The National Weather Service says that there could be hazardous travel conditions Thursday afternoon and evening.
