Warehouse fire at ‘Elite Properties’ in Valley Park, Missouri

VALLEY PARK, Mo. – Several crews are continuing to fight flames at a local business fire in Valley Park. Authorities are confirming the business on fire is ‘Elite Proprieties,’ and is now at a third alarm.

Curtis Van Gassbeek, the assistant chief of the Valley Park Fire Protection District, told FOX 2 that crews could see smoke and flames pouring from the building here as soon as they left their nearby firehouse. Some 60 firefighters are on the scene here from about a dozen different departments. They are trying to surround and drown the fire in an effort to keep it contained to just that large business. So far, that has been successful.

Locals say they heard a loud boom around 3:00 a.m. when the fire was first reported and that they have heard other large booms as well. It’s unclear what exactly those are but this is a property management and property restoration company so there could be a lot of materials inside.

We spoke earlier with a resident as well as Assistant Chief Van Gaasbeek. You will hear first from the assistant chief about the challenges of fighting this fire in windy conditions. We’re told power lines were on fire at one point and it’s understood that some of the homes in this immediate area have lost power. So far, no injuries are being reported.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined at this hour. FOX 2 will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
