Bus catches fire in Normandy, rolls into house

NORMANDY, Mo. – A bus was engulfed in flames Monday evening in Normandy.

According to officials, the bus caught fire while driving on Ellington Drive. The driver exited the bus, which then rolled into a home.

Officials say there were no students on the bus.

It is said that some individuals were inside the residence at the time, but there were no injuries. The bus driver is reported to be okay.

“We just heard a big explosion, and my grandma went to her back window and saw like a big gulf of smoke,” Sophia Mallett, neighbor, said. “So then we heard a second explosion, so I just came out and walked down the street, and a bus had apparently crashed into the house and caught on fire, just went up in flames.”

The family living at the home told FOX 2 they’re not sure when they’ll be able to return to their house. Damage to the house is still being assessed.

This is a developing story. More will be posted as it comes into the FOX 2 newsroom.
