Construction worker ID’d in fatal south St. Louis County crash; two teens charged

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Prosecutors have filed charges against two teenagers accused in a crash that led to the death of one construction worker and and injured another Friday in south St. Louis County.

Deondre Robinson, 18, and Patrick Aten, 18, were both charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault. Robinson was additionally charged with operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

On Saturday, the St. Louis County Police Department identified the construction worker killed in the crash as 34-year-old Christopher Johnson.

The crash happened around 10:40 a.m. Friday in the 9900 block of South Broadway.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, Robinson and Aten were racing each other and speeding down South Broadway in St. Louis County. Robinson reportedly lost control of his vehicle and spun, striking Johnson and another construction worker.

Court documents state that Christopher Johnson was drug under Robinson’s vehicle during the crash. The other worker suffered serious injuries, including head lacerations. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is investigating the crash.
