ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis flight bound for Sacramento, California, made an emergency landing Friday afternoon shortly after the plane took off.
Sources tell FOX 2 that the plane had 175 people onboard and that the plane made a safe emergency landing around 4 p.m. Friday.
FOX 2 has learned the plane that made the landing is a Boeing 737-800 model. Southwest Airlines was using the plane for a flight from St. Louis to Sacramento.
Laura Swift from the Southwest Public Relations team gave the following statement to FOX 2:
“Southwest Airlines flight 5907 from St. Louis to Sacramento returned to St. Louis shortly after taking off to check out a potential mechanical issue. The aircraft is being taken out of service for review. Our customers are being accommodated on a different aircraft and will continue to Sacramento. We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to get them to their destination as quickly as possible. “
It’s unclear how much time passed between the takeoff and the landing.
No injuries have been reported from this situation.
