Standoff in St. Charles ends peacefully; suspect in custody

ST. CHARLES — Police were involved in a standoff near St. Charles City Hall Monday morning. The SWAT Team and police officers were called to a parking structure for the county courthouse near North Monroe and Main Street. Calls started coming into the FOX 2 Newsroom about the incident at around 10:30 a.m.

A man was locked in his car with a woman and indicated to police that he has a gun. This appears to be a domestic dispute stemming from a court case. The situation was at the bottom level of the parking garage. The police say that there is no danger to the public.

Bird flu is spreading to more farm animals. Are milk and eggs safe?

The suspect is now under arrest after negotiating with officers for over an hour. The woman is currently speaking to officers.

No one was shot during this incident. It is still not clear if the man had a gun.

This is a developing story. More details will be posted here as they come into the FOX 2 Newsroom.
