Two killed, one injured in rapid St. Louis shootings

ST. LOUIS — There were three shootings in less than an hour and a half in St. Louis City. Two people died and another person is hurt. All of the victims in these latest shootings were in their 20s and all of the violence happened in different areas of north St. Louis. There are no suspects in custody in connection with any of the cases.

The violence started with a homicide after 8 p.m. on the 4400 block of Elmbank. That’s in the Greater Ville neighborhood. When officers arrived, they found a 21-year-old man shot multiple times in his car. Authorities tell us the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just 13 minutes after the murder on Elmbank, another homicide unfolded at Hamilton and Cote Brilliante around 8:45 p.m. That is in the Wells Goodfellow neighborhood. Police say a 27-year-old man showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was later pronounced dead.

Then, just before 10 p.m., St. Louis police rushed to yet another shooting. This one happening on Carter and Shreve in the Penrose neighborhood. It’s being classified as a first degree assault.

Police tell us a 26-year-old woman was shot in the leg. She was conscious and breathing when she was taken to the hospital.

This is the second night in a row where someone in the city was murdered in their car. On Sunday night, a man in his 50s was found shot and killed inside a vehicle at Goodfellow and Windham.

There have now been at least 48 homicides this year in the city of St. Louis. Last year at this time there were 44 murders in the city.
