ST. LOUIS – The Mini Museum of Greater St. Louis in South St. Louis has been hit by three cars this year, with two crashes occurring in the past month.
In response to the repeated incidents, city crews have installed two concrete barriers in front of the museum to prevent further damage from vehicles crashing into the building.
The museum has been actively campaigning on social media and at city hall to address the issue of cars crashing into their building.
“I think it’s a traffic kind of thing. People are not paying attention to the laws that say, ‘you’re only supposed to be going this fast,” said Meg Dietrich, president of the Miniature Museum of St. Louis.
Despite the new barriers, the effectiveness of these measures in preventing future crashes remains uncertain.
Although the business has seen over three cars speeding into the shop, Dietrich says the museum is here to stay.
“We’re not going anywhere,” she said.
