Reactions (Voted Against)

WESLEY BELL

“What happened on the House floor today will go down as one of the darkest votes in modern American history. This bill wasn’t about cutting waste, balancing budgets, or fiscal responsibility. It was about taking from the poor to give even more to the rich. I didn’t run for Congress to help the powerful get more power. I came here to fight for the people I grew up with. For working folks. For St. Louis families who are always asked to sacrifice while the rich keep taking. I will keep fighting, because they matter. And this country ought to act like it.”

NIKKI BUDZINSKI

“Today, House Republicans officially pledged their loyalty to the billionaire class, delivering a profound betrayal to hardworking American families. From the very beginning, I have been clear about how devastating this bill is for our country — for single mothers relying on SNAP, for children dependent on Medicaid, and for everyone except the ultra-wealthy. It’s the working class who deserve tax relief — not billionaires. Democrats fought tirelessly to block this bill, but not enough Republicans were willing to defend their communities from these cuts. I will continue standing firm to protect my district and the American people as this administration turns its back on them.”

Reactions (Voted For)

JOSH HAWLEY

Via social media platform X, Hawley celebrated the bill’s passage, in particular the expansion of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA).

“To all the radiation survivors and nuclear veterans across the country: WE DID IT. Today, we have prevailed. Your country thanks you and honors your sacrifice.

HUGE WIN for Missouri – after 5 decades, survivors of nuclear radiation will FINALLY be compensated by the government that poisoned them.”

ERIC SCHMITT

“We did it. Congress has officially PASSED the One Big Beautiful Bill. A historic, once-in-a-lifetime chance to secure our border, reverse mass migration, slash taxes for American families and reverse American decline. Now on to President Trump’s desk.”

ANN WAGNER

“Today’s vote is a win for hardworking Missourians that prevents the largest tax increase in American history, ensuring every American keeps more of their hard-earned dollars. The One Big Beautiful Bill keeps our promise to the American people, enacting no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, enhanced tax relief for seniors on Social Security, increased Child Tax Credits for families, and tax certainty for our local small businesses.”

BOB ONDER

“Without this bill, Americans would have faced the largest tax increase in history. We simply couldn’t let that happen. This was about keeping our promises — renewing tax relief, securing our nation, and advancing the America First agenda that President Trump laid out and voters overwhelmingly supported.”

SAM GRAVES

“The One Big Beautiful Bill Act delivers historic tax relief for families, seniors and American workers. It cuts wasteful spending, secures the border, and unleashes American energy, while ensuring we have a strong military. As Chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I’m proud that we were able to include major investments in the U.S. Coast Guard to strengthen our border and national security. It will also jumpstart the process of modernizing our nation’s aging air traffic control system and hiring more air traffic controllers to keep the flying public safe. This bill makes good on President Trump’s America First agenda and I look forward to seeing it signed into law.”

JASON SMITH

“This legislation will not only be transformational for the American economy, ensuring that it works for working class Americans, not against them, but it also provides the largest one-time investment in border security in American history. It takes necessary steps to rein in out-of-control spending by making the largest cut to mandatory spending in American history. This bill is nothing short of the greatest piece of Republican legislation in a generation, and I look forward to President Trump signing this bill into law.”

MIKE BOST

“President Trump and conservative majorities in Congress were elected to shut down the border invasion and put America’s taxpayers first. I voted to lock in the Trump tax cuts and avert the largest tax hike in our nation’s history, while securing the border and kicking fraudsters off benefits intended for families in need. I’m proud to work closely with President Trump to deliver on our promises to the American people.”

MARY MILLER

“The One Big, Beautiful Bill is a once-in-a-generation victory for the American people. It delivers on President Trump’s America First agenda with bold, decisive, and immediate action. This is the most pro-worker, pro-family, pro-America legislation I have voted for during my time in Congress, and I was proud to help get it across the finish line for the hardworking Americans across my district.”
